Dnd me circle of the moon3/30/2023 ![]() ![]() They have access to the whole druid list, which is a lot of control, utility, and damage spells. Think of them as a character who uses the exact same resources (spell slots and wild shape) to be a full caster or martial. I've seen some tables even ban the subclass altogether, but I don't really think its worth going to such extreme. There are many other classes up there in terms of strength, so I wouldn't really call the moon druid "OP", but definitively a strong class. (It takes around level 8+ to be hit by attacks that deal more than 22+ damage). Because moon druids don't rely on stats so much as other classes, they are often free to pick Warcaster/Resilient CON at level 4, which will allow them to very rarely fail saving throws. The standard druid is also a prepared caster and has access to many impressive control spells, which allow it to pick anything it needs to do and then wildshape into something that allows it to concentrate better. (Spellslots recharge on a long rest however) ![]() Wildshape is short rest based, so you are expecting about 60-80 extra HP every short rest, plus an additional 10d6 per level 2 spell slot because of healing spirit. The moon druid can tank better than most barbarians because of its ability to wildshape into bigger CR wildshapes, as well as having access to healing spirit and other spells that allow it to survive for longer. They have a little bit of everything and often do better than a lot of other classes just because of what they can do, making it so that it sometimes overshadows players who picked a less optimal option for their class. Its one of the strongest classes, up there with divination Wizard and certain Paladin oaths, but I wouldn't call it entirely gamebreaking. ![]()
